Larry is the Chief Executive Officer of GSV Financial Group LLC. He has created and raised capital for numerous investment partnerships, and established close ties to a number of top-tier venture funds. Larry served on the Board of Directors of Solexel, Inc. and Glori Energy, Inc.
Prior to founding GSV Financial, Larry owned multiple businesses and previously served as a Vice President level administrator for five large academic institutions. His primary responsibility in these positions was development activity, raising funds from private and corporate donors. Over the course of his career, he was responsible for overseeing more than $500 million in grants, donations, and sponsorships. He also had responsibility for multimillion-dollar projects such as stadium naming rights, television and radio rights, as well as all revenue generation activities for Athletics.
Larry completed his MBA coursework while maintaining a full-time position as Associate Athletic Director. During the same period, he launched his first private investment partnership. In addition to his MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, he earned his M.S. in Sports Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Larry holds securities licenses Series 62 and 63 and is a registered representative of Harbor Light Securities, LLC.
Tom has more than 30 years of corporate finance, investment banking, and financial executive management experience with rapidly growing entrepreneurial companies. He holds an observer position on the Board of Directors of Agrivida, Inc. and is also President of Burling Street Capital LLC and InterOcean Equity Partners LLC, two Chicago-based private equity and financial advisory firms that invest in and advise entrepreneurial-based companies. Investments include a significant interest in a franchise of a nationally recognized quick service restaurant chain.
Most recently, Tom has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of a boutique financial advisory firm and its wholly-owned subsidiaries. He led the day-to-day operations of the InterOcean Financial Group’s merchant banking and private equity business. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of LKQ Corporation. During his tenure, LKQ completed 31 acquisitions and grew to $225 million in revenue. Today LKQ Corporation is publicly traded (NASDAQ: LKQX). Tom also served as a Vice President of Flynn Enterprises, Inc. a family office and venture capital and consulting firm.
Tom’s early career led him to work at GE Capital and with Continental Bank and later Security Pacific Bank in positions of increasing responsibility. While at Security Pacific Bank, he was integral in structuring early senior debt financing for Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation.
Tom holds a Masters of Management with a concentration in Finance from Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He holds securities licenses Series 7, 24, 63, 66 and 79, and is a registered representative of Harbor Light Securities, LLC. He also serves on the Board of Regents of St. Ignatius College Preparatory High School in Chicago, IL.
John has more than 30 years of institutional and private wealth management experience. He started his career as an Investment Analyst and ultimately a Portfolio Manager for a large Wall Street firm, Neuberger Berman. In the 90s he headed up the well-respected Investment Consulting and Pension Consulting practice of Ibbotson Associates where he worked with some of the largest public and private pension plans and investment management firms. John joined the Private Client Wealth Management practice of Bernstein Research and Investment Management in 1999, and then formed his own investment advisory practice serving the investment management and wealth planning needs of both wealthy families and institutions in 2003.
John is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Public Accountant, and earned his Master’s Degree from the University Of Chicago Graduate School of Business with emphasis in Quantitative Finance and Econometrics. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Iowa State University where he played football and tutored fellow athletes, earning him the honor of the player “with the highest completion percentage of sentences.”
John is a Finance Instructor for both the Becker/Schweser CFA Review Program, as well as Loyola University, and he has won Chicago Magazine’s “Chicago’s Top Private Wealth Managers” award since its inception in 2010.
